What Edgar Stands For

Real commitments to Germantown families — not talking points. Edgar's platform comes directly from listening to the people who live here.

Germantown's Character
Priority 1

Germantown's Character

Bring back the hometown feeling that makes Germantown special.

Germantown has always been more than a zip code — it's a community with a distinct identity, a sense of pride, and a way of life worth protecting. Edgar has lived here since 1975 and has watched that character slowly erode under city leadership that stopped listening to residents.

That means honoring the city's agreements with its citizens, maintaining our streets and public spaces to the standard residents deserve, and making sure Germantown looks and feels like the community we all chose to call home.

  • Restore Germantown's hometown identity and sense of community
  • Honor all existing agreements between the city and its citizens
  • Raise the standard for maintaining our streets, parks, and public spaces
  • Widen Forest Hill-Irene Road to ease congestion and improve safety
Fiscal Responsibility
Priority 2

Fiscal Responsibility

Stop charging taxpayers more and delivering less.

Germantown residents work hard for their money, and they deserve a city government that spends it wisely. Edgar will bring a business-minded approach to city finances — cutting waste, reducing spending, and lowering the tax burden on families.

For our senior citizens who have spent a lifetime building this community, Edgar will pursue a property tax freeze so they can stay in the homes they love without fear of being priced out. And for every resident, he will push to reduce garbage fees that have grown without justification.

  • Reduce city spending and lower taxes for Germantown families
  • Property tax freeze for senior citizens
  • Reduce garbage fees
  • Require accountability and transparency in every city budget
Accountability & Term Limits
Priority 3

Accountability & Term Limits

Government that answers to residents — not to itself.

Career politicians stop working for the people and start working to stay in office. Edgar believes in term limits: two terms for elected officials, then at least one term off. Fresh perspectives and new voices keep government responsive and honest.

Accountability means more than elections. It means showing up, being transparent about decisions, and delivering on promises. Edgar will hold himself — and every city official — to that standard.

  • Champion term limits: two terms, then at least one term off
  • Increase transparency in city government decisions and spending
  • Hold city officials accountable to the residents they serve
  • Engage residents before major policy decisions are made
Public Safety
Priority 4

Public Safety

Modernize crime prevention to keep pace with today's threats.

Germantown has long been one of the safest cities in Tennessee, and Edgar will keep it that way. That means fully funding our police and fire departments and ensuring our first responders have the tools, training, and support they need.

But safety in 2026 requires more than traditional policing. Edgar will modernize Germantown's crime prevention approach — leveraging technology, data, and community partnerships to stay ahead of evolving threats and keep every neighborhood secure.

  • Modernize crime prevention tools and technology
  • Fully fund police and fire with competitive pay and equipment
  • Strengthen community policing and neighborhood watch programs
  • Improve response times and public safety transparency
Schools & Young People
Priority 5

Schools & Young People

Fight for the 3 G's — and think creatively about what they can become.

Edgar is a lifelong proponent of neighborhood schools. When Germantown built its own school system, there was an agreement with Shelby County Schools that Germantown Elementary and Germantown Middle School would be returned to the city. That agreement is being honored — the city is paying $5,000,000 to the county, and both schools are scheduled to come back to Germantown in January 2032.

Germantown High School is a different fight. The county is attempting to sell the property and use those proceeds to build a new high school elsewhere. If that sale does not happen, Germantown gets the building back in January 2032 as well. Edgar will do everything in his power as mayor to ensure that outcome — and to hold the county accountable to the original agreement.

Here is the reality we have to face honestly: after the construction of Forest Hill Elementary, Germantown does not have the student population to fill and operate all three buildings at full capacity. We cannot support a second high school. But that does not mean we give up on these buildings — it means we think outside the box.

Edgar's vision: convert a portion of the Germantown High School campus into a Technical Training Facility, giving young people and adults access to skilled trades education right here in our community. The Elementary and Middle School buildings can be repurposed to further the education and enrichment of Germantown citizens — continuing education, community programs, and lifelong learning opportunities that serve every generation.

  • Hold the county to the 2032 agreement — return Germantown Elementary and Middle School to the city
  • Fight to keep Germantown High School out of outside hands
  • Explore converting part of the GHS campus into a Technical Training Facility
  • Repurpose Elementary and Middle School buildings for community education and enrichment programs
  • Ensure every decision about the 3 G's is made with full transparency and resident input
